Portrait of a Girl by Workshop of Domenico Ghirlandaio ~ ca. 1490
The sitter has not been identified but judging from the hairstyle this portrait was probably painted in about 1490. It was formerly attributed to Sebastiano Mainardi which may be correct but, despite his known collaboration with Domenico Ghirlandaio (who was his brother-in-law), there is very little evidence of his style and the portrait is therefore given to the workshop of Domenico Ghirlandaio. The original panel has been extended.
