Daguerreotype of German poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, ca. 1845
This photo is taken only three years before Annette’s death in 1848 (probably of tuberculosis), and only seven years after the painting here, in which she looks very much idealized. The hairstyle is pretty much the same, whereas the dress has changed considerably. As well as the ageing of her features. Again we see how much photos used to differ from the paintings.
