Portrait of two young women ~ ca. 1850

Daguerreotype mounted in a late 19th century frame ~ photographer unknown. I love the large lace trimmed bonnet ribbon. I wonder why one of the two is dressed for outdoors, with a parasol, jacket and bonnet, as if she is ready to go out, or just came in while her friend was already waiting for her to have their picture taken. They seem to have the same criss-cross ribbon neck tie, and similar dresses, although one her a white lace trim and the other a black lace trim in their off-shoulder bodice. Could they be sisters? They don’t look so much alike. Maybe sisters-in-law? I guess we will never know…
