Portrait of a mother and her daughter, c. 1850
Tinted daguerreotype, photographer unknown. Could this be a mourning photo? Or half-mourning? Note the black glove on one hand, and the other hand is bare. I like the detail of the bonnet ribbon which is left untied, as opposed to most photographs where the ribbon is always so properly tied. It gives the image a more ‘intimate’ character.
