This is how I imagine the character of Jane Eyre. Does she not look like the perfect headstrong yet fragile and romantic governess? She has these ‘knowing’ eyes. Note the hook and eye front closure of the bodice and the very pretty passementerie trim. You can clearly see where the underbust corset ends. Look how tiny her waist is. I wonder what book she is reading…
