freckle-faced teenage girl with long ringlets, 1850s

sixth-plate Daguerreotype of teenage girl by Robert Weston (132 Chatham St., NYC), 1850s

According to Craig’s Registry Robert Weston first operated at this address in 1851. Posed in front of Weston’s typical scenic lake backdrop this freckle-faced young beauty’s gorgeous head of hair is styled in beautiful long ringlets. I like her adolescent expression with the hint of a smile while at the same time keeping a close eye at her observer. She wears a checkered dress which I think is early 1850s. It has wide sleeves with lace trim and white under sleeves that match her white lace collar. She wears a necklace with a gold circular pendant, possibly an image locket.
