The Artist and His Son Raphael by Benjamin West, 1773
The artist Benjamin West (1738-1820), here 35 years old, with his seven-year-old son Benjamin Lamar West (1766-1850) who would later also become a painter. The boy’s mother and his younger brother can be seen on this painting here. And here is a self portrait of Benjamin West several years later.
