Portrait of a young Lady, Allegory of Beauty ~ School of Fontainebleau, ca. 1580s
.
This type of painting is typical of the School of Fontainebleau and was very fashionable at the end of the 16th Century. The manufacture was mostly nordic and sometimes Flemish. Often they paint the same face, only the outfits change. A portrait like this one embodies the beauty ideals of the times.
