The Web ~ 1899
A platinum print photograph of a woman looking at a spider’s web, taken by Clarence Hudson White. The photographer made bold use of light in his photographs, even pointing his camera directly into the sun or into dark shadows. In this platinum print the shadows show the sun to be low behind the woman, almost silhouetting her against the morning or evening light.
