Sixth Plate Daguerreotype Portrait of a Young Woman, in a brown geometric/scroll design (not listed in Krainik) Union case ~ 1850s
Haunting portrait of a ghostly, ethereal young woman dressed in 1850s style. Her hair is typical of the times in a padded wing style coiffure, partly covering her ears. The bodice of her dress has a high neckline with a scalloped white lace collar adorned with a brooch. The vee-waisted bodice is trimmed with big ribbon bows. Around her neck a pen necklace. The bell sleeves have a low shoulder line with a kind of smock work.
