Woman before a mirror by Domenico Induno, 1870
Induno gradually abandoned history painting in favor of genre scenes, including this work in which a lady inspects her clothing in a mirror. Clearly she is a musician as she puts the final touches on her dress for the evening in a room containing a violin, a piano, and sheet music from which a Strauss waltz and other pieces have been played.
