Daguerreotype of Frowning Lady, 1840s

I believe this is a very old Daguerreotype. The dress has style element remnants of the late 1830s, especially the sleeves. The bodice has very nice pleats – I don’t know the exact name for this type of pleats. She also has a particular lace collar, or Bertha. I don’t know how to define it exactly. In any case, this lady seems to be from the early 1840s. From the frown on her face it might seem she is not yet used to the new medium of photography, and a little bit unsettled by the whole set up.
