Sixth-plate Daguerreotype of unknown lady, 1850s
Very sweet portrait of a young lady with a ribbon bow trimmed bodice typical of the 1850s. Notice how the ribbon bows match the trim of her wide sleeves. It is not clearly visible but she seems to be wearing a basque bodice. Her skirt has flounces. She has a large white lace collar and a thick shawl. On her head a bonnet with plaid ribbons and trim. She seems to have a little dimple in her chin which is very cute. She looks very youthful, she must be still a teenager.
